What, you don't know who Greta Garbo is? Yikes! She was the most successful silver screen actress of the 1930s. Here's her secret recipe for world fame!

MGM ignored Garbo when she first got to the United States. Her future was in question, but Ms. G. would not be defeated. She met a photographer in NYC who asked to take her portrait. When Louis B. Mayer, MGM studio chief, saw these prints he immediately called her to Hollywood. And the rest is history! 

This outfit is so fierce it is not clear which element makes it pop. The stellar popped collar? The flashy earrings? The fashionable hat? 

What is your favorite part of her ensemble?

Garbo became especially well-known after her first movie with John Gilbert, called "Flesh and the Devil." During the scene in this picture Garbo takes the chalice and turns it so that she drank from the same spot as her secret lover. How is that for subversive and spicy?!

Each star had their own shape of eyebrow, their own lip shape, and their own hairstyle. It helped to create their brand. Greta's eyebrows are particularly notable. 

What we are dying to know: did she shave them off or were they natural eyebrows transformed?
